| 1981 To prevent youth substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyles DREAM was founded through the efforts of the Junior League of Jackson and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics during the 1980's when juvenile substance abuse was at epidemic levels. The organization focused on community mobilization against teen substance abuse throughout Mississippi. Thanks to the generous support of the Warren Hood family and the nurturing it received from thousands of volunteers, philanthropists, political figures, government agencies, and its board of directors, DREAM grew in size and stature and was soon recognized nationally for its creative approaches to preventing youth substance abuse. Glenda Crump has served DREAM in various capacities for 15 years and was named CEO in 2003. Known for her motivational speaking, creative programming, and high energy, Ms.Crump has continued DREAM™'s legacy of excellence and innovation. She has an English/Journalism degree from Tougaloo College and a Master's in Communication from Mississippi College. Ellen O'Neal Mitchell is one of the original founders of DREAM and has served in several capacities in the organization including Project Coordinator, Conference Director, Director of Personnel, and, currently, Chief Financial Officer.
