DREAM Runs the Blues Marathon
| DREAM News - Archives |
It was a great day for a DREAM run and that is exactly what the DREAM Team did as the DREAM Relay Team comprised of Glenda Crump, Danielle Milam, Caroline Newkirk, Wendy Kendall and Jordon Hillhouse conquered the marathon course. Several other DREAM staff were there to help escort the DREAM runners to their starting place, provide water to all runners and cheer participants on.
The 5th Annual Blues Marathon was sold out this year as 2,500 participants from 45 states and 10 countries came to Jackson to participate in the half and full marathons. The hilly course winds through the Capital city and can be ran individually or as part of a relay team. The race pays tribute to the Blues and to the birthday of Elvis Presley. A stage is set up at the finish line where Blues music can be enjoyed by participants, volunteers and spectators during and before the race.
This year, each DREAM Relay Team member ran five miles of the course with Caroline Newkirk finishing up the last 6.2 miles of the race.
