Meeting Held at NAS Meridian
by Vicki Mixon - DREAM, Inc.
During the week of March 9 - 13, recipients of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH), Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse (BADA)’s Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) participated in the first week of a training program conducted by the National Coalition Academy. The Academy is a year-long innovative training program that combines three weeks of classroom training, distance learning, and web-support to teach communities what they need to know and do in order to start or sustain a highly effective anti-drug coalition. The Academy is conducted by Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA), and is being hosted by National Guard Bureau and the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy (RCTA) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian, MS. In October, 2008, the Mississippi DMH/BADA awarded the SPF SIG to 21 agencies. These sub-recipients are comprised of Community Health Centers and DMH Certified Freestanding Programs around the state.
